Artyom
Help to id please. It was collected into alluvial sediments. There is eroding cliff with Lower Campanian bed near.
jpc
It is certainly not Campanian. Looks modern to me.
Artyom
So, which of modern animal could have such teeth?
RichW9090
Crown view looks rather human. So could also be a very worn pig, I suppose. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
Artyom
RichW9090, do you think this is modern?
RichW9090
Yes, it appears to be modern, as far as I can tell from the photograph. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
araucaria1959
I wonder why the tooth is so heavily polished. Is there some sort of (dark) matrix between the roots (in the first picture?. If so, this argues in favour of a fossil. araucaria1959
RichW9090
It appears to me heavily water-worn and perhaps polished by silt load in the water. I'm not seeing any matrix adhering to it at all, but rather some staining of the dentin of the roots. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence". jpc
I agree with RichW on both the modern aspect and the either pig or human, but that part I am not so sure. And the yellow looks like dentine. Yes, looks very water worn.
