jkjoller
Hi All- Decided to check out the Post Oak Creek area (in Sherman) this weekend. Found a few interesting things. But being a complete newcomer to the hobbie, I could use a little help! The most interesting piece I found was this piece that looks like fossilized bone. But I'm not sure. If anyone can provide some insight I would appreciate it. Pics enclosed... Thanks Jeff
Rob Russell
Looks like a bovid ulna bone, but I'm far from an expert. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will weigh in soon. Welcome to the forum. Finding my way through life; one fossil at a time.
jkjoller
Is this unusual for this area? Anyone have any other thoughts?
jwcounts
If it's bovine, it's not unusual for POC. How heavy is it? A lot of fairly recent bones in POC are stained brown, making them appear fossilized. If it's lightweight then it is probably on the newer end of the holocene, at oldest. There is Pleistocene material around there though.
