Hello friends.

I visited a old rocky bluff behind a friend of mines house today. Didn't really find anything good. I found out that it is a cave as well. took a few pics. Managed to pull the nice crystalized rock from inside onme of the holes. The other rock I am not sure about... I caught my eye because of the shape.. Any ideas? Also I didn't see the first sight of a fossil for the whole 2 hour hunt. Do you think I am wasting my time here? Has sopme nice rock there that appears to be good rock for fossils, but nada...

I really don't see anything that's a fossil, but could be wrong. The images 6 & 7 look more like tools. Wait for some of our experts to weigh in... BTW, welcome to The Fossil Forum from Washington. The cave site images are cool!

The last two pics show a rock with calcite in them and the upper part of the rock in the last pic looks like it is oolitic limestone. Limestone with calcite veins isn't too uncomon west of Interstate 75. Most natural bluffs that I have checked in Kentucky are poor in fossils because most are sandstone and heavily weathered. Check the creeks for fossils that have eroded out of limestone and the occasional plant stem or root from sandstone. Old roadcuts through limestone can be productive but watch out for distracted drivers watching you and not the road.
