Oxytropidoceras
It must have been an extremely slow day for news for this paper to have published the below story. It seems like the editor should have killed this story politely, but immediately. Mystery Rocks of Half Moon Bay: Resident Believes They are Dinosaur Artifacts. (Steve Culbreth shows off his rock collection in a photo slideshow.) by Angela Swartz, Half Moon Bay Patch, April 4, 2013 http://halfmoonbay.patch.com/articles/check-out-these-unique-rocks-found-in-town#photo-13816954 The Secret Life of Rocks by Steve Culbreth, Nov. 13, 2009 http://www.slideshare.net/steveculbreth/the-secret-life-of-rocks-2497489 This reminds me of a talk that I had with a South Carolina State Historical Officer (SHIPO). There was one avocational archaeologist, who was really talented at finding and recording prehistoric archaeological sites. The only problem was that in addition to the legitimate archaeological sites, the person would turn site forms for "dinosaur villages" that he had discovered. The dinosaur villages were natural clusters of boulders, exhumed corestones, but no amount of explanations would convince him of this fact. The SHIPO quickly gave up in discussing the matter and simply accepted the site forms for the dinosaur villages along the site forms for the legitimate sites and files the "dinosaur villages" sites in a file separate from all of the legitimate site forms for the amusement of future SHIPOs. Gizmo
Wow, scary. And as I've seen before no amount of contrary evidence, explanation or expert opinion will change his beliefs.
