ninthstargod
My childhood fossil collection had been sitting in a box in my closet for more than fifteen years. Since I got the itch to start hunting for fossils again for the first time since I found them, I wanted to dig them out and see what was there. Most of them I didn't even remember having and I was rather surprised by the quality of some of them. When I was a kid I don't think I had any idea what they were or what was a good quality fossil. I believe all that I thought about them was that they might be from the time of the dinosaurs and therefore were worth finding and keeping. At that point of my childhood anything to do with dinosaurs was mighty interesting. Unfortunately I don't remember where I found them. I remember finding some at a nearby exposure, that I have just recently returned to, but I don't know which ones I found there. I imagine I found them all somewhere around the area but I'm not positive on that. I was in a bit of a hurry to get the pics done and forgot to dust some of them. Sorry about that, you'll just to look past the dust and pet hair. It's a bit amazing how much more that shows up in pictures compared to our eyes, especially pet hair. ninthstargod
This is the only one that I can remember for sure where I found it. It was laying next to the wall of our barn, which means that someone else had placed it there at some point. Wether it was found during construction on the barn or not, I have no idea but it is possible. The original section of the barn was built around 1840 but was added to at a later date of which I'm not aware. At least someone recognized that it was an interesting find and sat both pieces of it aside. Obviously this is one that I forgot to dust. Here is showing where a piece is broke off and the inside of the rock.

DSCN6557 - Copy.JPGDSCN6559 - Copy.JPGDSCN6560 - Copy.JPG Welcome to the forum from Florida! Quite a nice little piece of a crinoid hash (lots of crinoid stem fragments) with local history as well! Somewhere along the fossilization process they got deposited on the sea floor and then dissolved and left the impressions behind. Lots of brachiopods (clams) and other plant finds as well! I still have a number of finds from when I was kid. cool stuff. Thanks for the post. Regards, Chris
