uncoat
I would like to submit this fossil boney fish skull. This is from the Miocene Astoria Fm. (15-20 myo) This was found May 2012 if I remember right. I finished prep for the most part on the 15th of this month. This is not one of my best prep jobs by any means.. This prep was started before I really had a work area or magnification or the best lighting etc. Fish are one of the most common vertebrate fossils I find in the Astoria fm. Im not sure what type of fish this is. It looks similar to pictures I have seen of a Pacific Mackerel. - Nick
Cris
It's been forever since I had something to put into the contest..I found this on the 26th of April in the middle of a swampy creek. It's a small piece of fossil turtle shell, probably from genus Pseudemys. The interesting thing about the piece of shell is that an alligator took a bite out of it 10,000+ years ago and the turtle survived the attack. The injury healed with a nice lump of bone capping off the once gaping hole left by the alligator. Pseudemys sp. (most likely) Pleistocene Dixie County, Florida
