New Members tavi Posted April 29, 2013 New Members Share Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) I found this on a hill side in the woods about 3 miles from Smith Lake in Cullman county AL. Can someone tell me what they think or know about it? Edited April 29, 2013 by tavi
Auspex
The diamonds in a diagonal pattern remind me of the 'bark' of the Carboniferous Lycopsid Lepidodendron. Better pictures and the location (to establish geologic age) are needed to be more certain. New Members tavi Posted May 3, 2013 Author New Members Share Posted May 3, 2013 here are a few more photos . i found it in cullman county, alabama about 3 miles from smith lake. it was on a hill side in the dirt and pine straw beside and old dead tree stump that had fallen apart. it feels just like a rock and looks like one until you turn it over and see the waffle like texture. just curious if anyone else had any comments.
