RickNC
Hit up a quarry yesterday with a fellow member. Was my best trip to this location. Two nice C. auriculatus were the best finds. Was really muddy in many places: In situ shot of the first ric. This is a pretty nice tooth compared to most that are found. Quite large and has a nice robust root: The second ric. This one is much smaller but it is in much better condition. Best in my collection. Even has the tip! The other stuff I kept. Some decent makos, mastodon tooth chunk, shark verts, spines, etc. Sorry for the bad pic: Nice horse tooth. I think this narrow tooth is a deciduous tooth? ibuprofen200mg
I'm assuming you were able to get permission to go in? I'm always attracted to dig sites but all the no trespassing signs usually turn me around.

sixgill pete
Rick, that small ric is awesome, rivals the one I found the last time we hunted there. What you are calling spines are Cylindracanthus, an Eocene Billfish. All that is known of them are the pieces of bill. Thats a very nice horse tooth for there also. Were you part of the NC club that went in on the 14th or is Onslow quarry back open to the public? -greel

flyersfan805
hey man, were you killing bread out there? that bread knife in the pic looks like you were trying to stab stuff with the blunt end! beautiful teeth looks like you got the good pickins before the club showed up. It does look like you went home several pounds heavier with all that mud though.. that makes for a long day!

And the knife is used in my bee hives. Was using it as a paperweight. Edited June 18, 2013 by RickNC
Tommy_
I'm assuming you were able to get permission to go in? I'm always attracted to dig sites but all the no trespassing signs usually turn me around. I think it has a lot to do with how dangerous it is. Wouldn't want you walking around when there are big machine(-driver)s that aren't informed about your presence. Nice finds!
