Creek Trip Near Summerville Sc

Hey Guys and Galls,

I had a super day (for me at least haha)! I found my biggest tooth I've ever found and to be completely honest am not sure what shark it came from. The big one in the pictures is the one I am talking about. It also has indentions on both sides of the main body of the tooth, can anyone explain that?

This was the first time I went to a creek to find shark teeth and boy it was fun! I worked up a serious sweat but filled up my jar with the biggest and best teeth I have ever found. I also found two shark vertebrae and a couple sting ray tooth plates.

The pics show an overview, sever close ups on the big one, and pics of the best ones.

Thanks for checking them out!

Andrew

Great finds, and nice report!
That large one looks pathological, I think?

Either that, or some type of symphyseal tooth?
Have no clue, though, as shark teeth are not my forte`.

Hopefully the experts will be along shortly.
Thanks for posting, and congratulations.
Regards,

Your big tooth is an angustiden with a pathology of both the blade and root! An excellent find!! Great report and great haul too.

That wicked triple-pathology angustidens is more than a trip-maker: that would be my find of the year!

Awesome stuff there. Congrats. That "triple-tipped" tooth is one of the coolest pathological teeth I've ever seen. It almost looks like a tooth that tried to sprout two more from within it.

Wow awesome find on that angustiden! very rare indeed. I've probably been out over 100 times in Summerville and never pulled a pathological tooth like even close to that!

That is an awesome tooth. Like others have said, it is pathologic (deformed).
