Another Ordovician Cephalopod

Northern Sharks

Recommended Posts

The Great White North is truly living up to it's reputation. Now that my hunting is over for the year (and has been for the last few weeks) here's a cephalopod I found on one of my last trips to the quarry. This would be Ordovician, Bobcaygeon Formation. There's no sign of a siphuncle so I'm hoping that the shape is distinctive enough to possibly ID this critter. As always, thanks in advance

Very cool that it's "flying" out of the matrix like that!

Virtually, impossible to ID without the siphuncle. I would call it "orthcerid". ;)

That's what I figured as well, but I just had to ask anyway
