What is the difference between a bricklayer hammer and one you might use for fossils/geology?

I have 22oz Estwing "brick hammer" is that hardened properly?

I’ve always used a VISA British Geological Hammer. They have a lightweight Fibreglass handle which allows the blow of the hammer to be concentrated on the head, making it very efficient.

Wow, thanks for posting this question. I've been pondering over what to buy myself. Ordered my Estwing E3-22p tonight. Can't wait for my first outing to use it.
