autographcollector11
These three were also found on private property near the Florissant Fossil Site in Florissant Colorado. I think that the 2nd one is a bee. The third may be a mosquito. I really can't tell the first one. Each is about 1/2 inch long. Any help would be greatly appreciated. siteseer
Yeah, the close-ups help a lot. I don't think the second specimen from your first photo is a bee but it may be a wasp. It could also be one of those flies that resemble wasps. My first thought was that it was something like a robber fly because I can see only one obvious wing. True flies have one pair of wings; wasps have two with the second pair smaller than the first. An insect specialist might be able to be more definite. The shape of the wing has me leaning toward wasp. These three were also found on private property near the Florissant Fossil Site in Florissant Colorado.I think that the 2nd one is a bee.
