Phoenixflood
Hi all! Sorry that these are the only pictures I have but I was helping a friend ID some material of of our late members had donated to our society for auction. It be a great help. The only info I know is its most likely from Calvert Cliffs. I put a link as well to our site if anyone is interested in stopping by. Thanks! It's about 5 inches+ in height and the hole in the center is about quarter size. http://www.chesapeakegemandmineral.org/upcoming-events.html The soul of a Fossil Hunter is one that is seeking, always. Boesse
That is definitely not a fossil. That's from some modern animal - what, I'm not exactly sure.

Phoenixflood
Really wish I had a side view too. I don't think it's modern. I had a flash on. I'll have to double check when I see it again. Felt like rock to me. But thanks for the input. The soul of a Fossil Hunter is one that is seeking, always. wibrown
I was hoping for an explanation for that!
Boesse
There is not much evidence provided to us that suggests anything other than modern. I'll say firstly, it is not from a pinniped or cetacean, and definitely not a sirenian - therefore eliminating the most likely candidates for vertebrate fossils at Calvert Cliffs, and increasing the likelihood that it's modern. That, and the color, and the paint.
MarcoSr
You might consider whether it could be an Indian artifact. I've seen some very unusual Indian pendants. Is there some way you can date the paint? Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
