Shark Tooth Hunter
Hi all, today i took a trail to a beach on the Eastern shore to just check it out. I eventually found a huge esposed layer on the side of a cliff of what I believe are fossil clams, oysters, and another shell that could be a chesapecten maybe. I usually go to the Calvert cliffs and Potomac and find shells that are different from these. But i have never seen shells like this in Md and just wanted to find out if anyone knew anything like the age or the possible formation. I have no idea what to make of it so any help is appreciated. Thanks, Shark Tooth Hunter
Auspex
The large triangular steinkerns in the third picture might be Isognomon maxillata (Giant Tree Oyster). If so, the site id Early to Middle Miocene.
