Auspex Posted October 9, 2013 Share Posted October 9, 2013 While the rock itself may contain fossils (I cannot tell from the images, but I doubt it as it seems metamorphic), the forms we see are from weathering. The host rock has an interesting pattern of differential hardness/weather-resistance (hence the suggestion that it may be metamorphic).
