New Members Geno Posted October 11, 2013 New Members Share Posted October 11, 2013 Found this specimen in Utah dinosaur country. Strange shape but otherwise material doesn't seem to be of organic origin. White material is remnant of muddy soil in which it was found. Note smooth curved base. Any idea what this might be? Great Forum! Thanks Geno 1 cm grid
ghost1066
Maybe a weathered trace fossil or weathered concretion.
Carl
I definitely looks like it has remnants of a carbonate shell. Probably a mollusk. An ammonite? Very weathered.
Herb
very weathered pelecypod shell or ammonite in matrix.
