ptychodus
I have gone from ulna to jaw to petrified wood. Any thoughts?
Plax
that's a tough one ptychodus, looks like pet wood to me and doesn't enlarge much when selected for a closer view
Just Bob
Hard to tell from the pictures but looks a lot like the lignite we find in the Cretaceous from NJ. Carl
I'd guess petrified wood but we'd really need a sharp extreme close up of the broken end surface.
ptychodus
I am convinced now that this is a piece of petrified wood; however, here are some of the other views. I apologize that the end on view is so blurry, but I assure you that there is no detail to be seen under a magnifying glass.
Carl
Can't do much with the new pix, especially blurry ones - the necessary detail is VERY fine. I wouldn't expect any detail from a regular magnifying glass - high power magnification is the only really reliable way to ID fossil wood.
