A paciphacops.attachicon.gif5.jpg

That turned out great.

I desperately want to find some Devonian trilobites.

Are these local to you? It has a real similar coloration to the black cat mountain trilos.

These aren't local, I bought it unprepped at MAPS. It is from either black cat mountain, or from the Bois d'arc which is quite similar to the haragan. You can find them unprepped at shows, but typically you have to ask because the unprepped material is usually not out in the open. Edited by Cryptidsaurian

Here is one I just finished today, a Glyptambon cephalon. The first photo is from the field before extraction, the second is post preparation.

Another one I did for my friend Scott. He roughed this one out with an engraver, he did a great job and made this piece a fun one to work on.

I agree with Tim, but just wanted to ask if it's not at all possible to remove the rest of the mineral covering, at least at the tips of the arms?

It is possible. I meant to do that this week, but forgot to bring it back from college. I didn't at first because I didn't want to break the tips of the arms, but I tried prepping the tips on another with no problem, so when I get the chance I will.

And here is the one I referenced in my reply: post-5952-0-57214100-1418856200_thumb.jpg

There is a little bit of shale on it left, but has been cold outside so I tend not to stay out too long to prep.

Here is one I am currently working on, a favosites in a eucalyptocrinus, which is in another eucalyptocrinus. There is also a (probably) partial periechocrinus beside the others. There is additional work to do; clean up the matrix, and some abrasive work, but I thought I'd share because it is a cool association.

Got back from home a few hours ago where I got to work on this Agaricocrinus. Don't have any photos of when I bought it, but it was split then glued back together, leaving a little cavern where you could see the crinoid inside, which was pretty neat looking by itself. I decided to prep the matrix into a bowl shape. The arms weren't as complete as I thought when I bought it, but it is pretty cool in my book:
