Ridgehiker
More of a day's hike than a fossil trip. It's been a great autumn so far. Lots of blue sunshine. On Friday I zipped over the divide to Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia. After 20 or so kms on barely passable backcountry roads headed 'up' to check out some exposures ...a couple of hours later of vigorous but scenic hiking along an alpine crest descended into a gully. The 'bugs'' are in the matrix. Area not studied but probably Cambrian or early Ordovician. Specimens are about 2cms. Second photo iffy as it was poor light. Always lots of mountain sheep in this area doing their thing. Returning through Kootenay National Park saw a weird blob of mist....then through the binocs could see it was steam coming off of two bull moose snorting at each other. Probably last excursion this year west into the Mountains before the cross country skis are needed.
Fossildude19
Northstar, Wow! Spectacular views, wildlife, and fossils! How many trilos were you able to collect? Any ideas of the species? Thanks for the field trip! Ridgehiker
I didn't collect any. No restrictions. But an unspoken agreement that hikers in this area leave sites as they find them. Unlikely, however, anyone else would come across this locale unless it was pointed out. Just too big and convoluted a terrain. I doubt if I could find it again myself although I was there 'by chance' a dozen or so years ago. There is a known site in the same general area that I've never found...quite a few bugs in matrix. No easy hunting. Basically checking out outcrops hither and yon. Probably miss a hundred fossil spots just scanning the eyes but no way of knowing where to look. Edited October 21, 2013 by Ridgehiker

Blastoid
Gorgeous trilo! Shocked you left it for the elements. Hope to be up that way one day, it's beautiful country. Thanks for sharing your trip!!!
Wrangellian
Unspoken agreement - does that mean it's in writing?? Shame that good fossils must be left to the elements, I hate hearing about fossils that are found and then left. Anyway you're in Paleozoic Heaven over there, I wish I had such possibilities so close to me!
