How large is this specimen? It is again Carboniferous in age, I presume?

The central (three-dimensional) portion seems to be some sort of stem segment, but otherwise has few characteristics to help you with identification. The outer structure appears flat on photo (to me, at least), with striae and transverse ribs being the only structure (do they really bend towards the central "stem" on the right hand-side on the photo?

If I had to make a guess, I'd go for some sort of layered stem/trunk structure. Can't help with generic names, though...
