New Members eklogite Posted November 10, 2013 New Members Share Posted November 10, 2013 Hello every body, I have been told to search for fossils in an area near my residence area (about 7 km NNE) I have checked the Geological map of the area, the formation is Jahrom and it's age is Lower to Middle Eocence, with tick beds of white to cream dolomitic limestone. Also interbedded with mainly limestone and marl stones. Geolocation : +29,40,58N / +52,31,22E Do you think it's a good place for hunting ? What should I expect to find ? I have been told mainly search for echioides. Is it worth spending time to search there ? Cheers Eklogite
Wrangellian
Hello, If the expedition doesn't cost you much and you have been told to look there for echinoids, I would say it is worth spending the time. I don't know if anyone here can tell you any more about your location than you have told us, but you never know. Of course we want to see pictures of your results if there are any! Good luck. New Members eklogite Posted November 10, 2013 Author New Members Share Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Sure. I will take shots and upload them for ID. Seems that the area is rich in macro and micro fossils. I will update you soon. Cheers Eklogite Edited November 10, 2013 by eklogite
Auspex
Certainly worth investigating Sometimes, dolomite is a poor preserver on fossils, so be sure to explore the interbedded limestone and marl as well.
