ptychodus
Can anyone help me ID the pathology on this lateral Scapanorhychus texanus tooth?
obsessed1
On my computer at least the photos are too blurry for a good ID on the area you are talking about. Thta being said the first thing that i have run into is residual matrix. This can somes be hard to distiguish from the root itself. That second and much less likely option would be a small section of the jaw cartilege that may have been preserved. Any chance of getting clearer photos? Auspex
I don't suggest this as the answer in this case, but I have seen a couple root pathologies that were caused by embedded stingray barbs. Better images would help. ptychodus
I apologize for the blurry pictures. Alas, I am away from the tooth for over 1 month. I will post better pictures at that time.
