This summer we had a 3 days trip with the club in Le Havre Area, down the huge white cliffs

Day One :

First day, we headed to Antifer Cape. The huge coincidence was that despite it been planned for monthes, we reached the place a few day afer a big part of the cliff collapsed.

Video here :

Since it looked too fresh and still very dangerous we headed a bit further.

Here s a link (fench sorry) explaining the geology of the area

Saint Jouin Geology

Some of us decide to break up Albian clay block on the beach, some others ventures further for the cenomian blocks

Wasnt too lucky so the only noticeable thing i found was that micraster and a lot of nice iron pyrite.

Second day we headed to Senneville

Senneveille geology

We started the tough and long walk to our destination at low tide to pass the tricky aread before high tide.

After 1 hour of walk on the shore we reached our aim and started to break the Turonian chalk for usrin.

That day was way better for me, mostly micraster decipiens

Last day we headed to Veulette sur mer

Geology of veulette

Plan was to break flint blocks to get loose ursin inside. Veulette is Coniacian period

I was bit exhausted from previous day, and god, that flint is so hard ot break.

Found that one

After a while i didnt have the energy anymore and had to drive a long way home after a pretty good trip.

Holy Moly! That cliff collapse was incredible. The sound and airflow of that must have been incredible in person. Happy we don't have cliffs that unstable in the mid atlantic fossil area. Not sure I'd have the guts to hunt under those rock slabs. BTW... Congrats on the beautiful finds.
