toolbox82
found this crab today, this is one of the larger ones that has been found. There are numerous crab fragments in the shale and every now and then you will find ones like this. it is amazing to be able to find fossils in every piece of shale that is removed. toolbox82
Yes, very fragile. If you look at the top picture and to left of the crab, you will see a smooth spot. This is the spot where I split the shale open with a knife. A little to the right and I would have destroyed the crab. What is best do is take pics of the fossils in their natural state as soon as possible and stabilize them with paraloid B-72 for study later. MarcoSr
Carl Really nice pictures of outstanding specimens. The preservation of what you are finding is truly amazing. It will make the study of your site so much more productive because the specimens are in such great shape. Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." toolbox82
Had a little extra time today to break open some shale, I had stored for a rainy day. The amount of crabs that are being found in such a small area is very interesting. Carl
