dinodigger
Hey Gang, had a pretty good weekend in the bonebed. Did a lot of work on the Patti Mallori Henri jacket. Three great dimetrodons, two species. Pretty unique to have both a grandis and two loomisi's together. Going to be some incredible research on morphologies on them when we get the jacket into the lab. I threw some other pics on the roll there of some lunchbreak collecting on a couple bluffs a ways from the site. Nice to see an Eryops. Don't see them too often. Seems like there just wasn't enough water for them where we are digging. Surprise of the weekend was the neural spine in the Patti section. Took about three hours to expose the foot long section; thought it was a femur, but finally realized it was just one of Patti's MASSIVE neural fin spines. She truly is a huge beast. The contrast between the two species, loomisi and grandis is simply breathtaking. There is just so much different between the two. Grandis is pretty grand. Loomisi, so gracile. Starting to plan the logistics for extracting the jacket. Going to be two thousand pounds minimum.
