fossilsofnj
I normally look forward to collecting the New Jersey streams in the dead of winter but the bitter cold and snow is winning out this year. Here are a few pictures from prior trips. - john Late Cretaceous – Monmouth County, NJ. The first tooth in the top row has some down right mean looking cusps Row A – left to right Lateral Scapanorhynchus texanus, anterior S. texanus Row B - Archaeolamna kopingensis, Cretolamna appendiculata, Paranomotodon angustidens Row C - Squalicorax pristodontus, Squalicorax kaupi, S. texanus Row D - S. texanus, Ischyrhiza mira rostral spine (these are not teeth) It's good sportsmanship to not pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling. - Mark Twain
Ramo
Those are super nice. I can't get over how different your NJ teeth are than our KS teeth of similar species from the same time. Especially your squalicorax teeth. Ramo For one species to mourn the death of another is a new thing under the sun. -Aldo Leopold

Jeffrey P
Congratulations! Those are some classic teeth. Monmouth County is my winter hunting ground, but cold and snow has limited my activity there this winter. Hopefully we'll get out more again once it gets warmer. Hunt4teeth
Those teeth are in such great shape from being found in a stream. And you were not kidding about the lateral S. texanus, the cusps are intimidating.
squali
Nice variety there on the Fresh teeth. It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.
erose
Great specimens. I'm amazed at how similar the color is since I know those streams and the variety they produce. The Ischyrhiza mira is a nice one too.

Jeffrey P
I thought I should mention, thanks to your post I realized that some of the Archaeolamna I have are actually Cretolamna, and I have at least one Paranamotodon I wasn't aware of. So, thanks to you I've added two new species to my collection. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated your post. And by the way, did I mention those are some great finds. Would love to find an Ischyrhiza that good some day. Keep up the great work!

Jeffrey P
Hi Jeffery, Thanks – if you are not already familiar with my website it’s www.fossilsofnj.com and designed to help in the identification of NJ fossils. John Thanks John. Yes. I'm very familiar with your great website and have used it on a number of occasions. Most of my NJ Cretaceous collection was identified that way. The few I couldn't ID I sent photos to Jason Schein at the NJ State Museum. He was enormously helpful. I greatly appreciate the enormous work you did in putting together that wonderful site and your knowledge of the fauna. Best wishes. Jeff
