Uncle Siphuncle
This Eocene Zanthopsis dufouri crab was a gift from the ever magnanimous MB. Matrix was prep friendly as it separated from the fossil readily with my ME-9100 scribe. The right claw was intact, but the left had fingers missing. So a little Paleo Sculp epoxy putty and acrylic paint came to the rescue, and from a short distance the claw looks convincing enough and will display well.Special thanks to Àlex. fossilized6s
Yes, thats a dino egg! J/k Great prep job Dan! It would be cool to make a stand for it that showed both sides since you took your time to do s complete prep. How do you usually display your crabs? I just set a timer and flip them periodically (?)....Actually it might be cool to display this one offset an inch or two from a mirror to show the ventral view. Grüße, Daniel A. fossilized6s
This is what i was thinking. It may look a bit funny, but if you could mount it flat but raised up with a mirror base that would look killer! ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG

Uncle Siphuncle
thank you. some crabs are easier to work with than others; this crab just inclined itself to prepping. Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils."
