Is this just a badly worn shark tooth, or something else like a rostral tooth?

Thanks for looking.

That is a Pristiophorus rostral tooth. Pristiophorus is a sawshark - a genus of shark as opposed to a sawfish.

Cool! Thanks so much Jess! This is a first for me. :) I've just been reading up about the sawsharks, and I am going to get that PDF that you mentioned in another, earlier thread.

I agree with Jess. That is a beautiful rostral tooth. Pristiophorus rostral teeth from Lee Creek are very uncommon.

That's exciting Marco Sr. ! I am so pleased with this find. :)

I've looked through Lee Creek matrix for years and do not have one. Now you need to find an oral tooth. They are even rarer probably because of their small size.

Wow, just wow, Marco Sr.. I reckon this one gets its own gem jar! I will keep my eyes open for an oral tooth. :)

What a great find Julianna!

Thanks Ancient Bones. :)

Thanks Jeff! I was hoping that it was a rostral tooth, but never would have guessed that it would be an unusual find. What fun!
