Thanks for your comments !

We really have a good time whenever we look at the "bugs" of our collections, it isn't? The effort to find them is worth it...

All of them I've found my self <_<

I hope to continue showing more "stones" as somebody call them...

Bye !

Une belle echantillon

Espero que los links aguanten una temporada)

Tetragramma variolare var. subnuda (Cenomanian)

More than 5 cm. piece, character of this variety.

Echantillons de plus de 5 cm., c'est ça la caractéristique de cet variete.

Muestra de más de 5 cms., este gran tamaño es característico de esta variedad.

Gymnocidaris pseudohemicidaris (Aptian)

Stereocidaris cenomaniensis (Cenomanian)

A little parade...

Un petit réunion...

imagen008md6.th.jpg

Stereocidaris figueirensis (Turonian)

Some people call them "figueroensis", "figuerensis" ... erroneously; the type locality is Figueira da Foz (Portugal), so... Figueira -> figueirensis is the right name.

Sternotaxis plana (Coniacian)

Quite uncommon one. I prefer the regular ones...

Piece assez peu commune. J'aime mieux les reguliers...

Erizo no muy común. Me gustan más los regulares (aunque hay excepciones, claro)

So long!

A plus!

Hasta pronto! :D

Hi Martijn,

Thanks a lot. I've thougth the same for a while, C. altus, but I'm not sure at this moment. I've lots of C. altus (.... ;) ....) and I think are not the same. I don't know really if in Pliocene we can found the altus species... we can?

Bye !

Well the only really Pliocene Clypeaster I know of which has also been found in France (I think) is the Clypeaster aegyptiacus. Maybe you could compare it with that one.

Hi!

Best regards.

I primarily collect Ordovician fossils. The calymenids were a very prolific group. I find very similar ones from this side of the Iapetus. Do you have any other inverts from the area? I love comparing Laurentian and Gondwana fauna.

Well, I've seen some aegiptiacus in Tortonien beds (miocene) here, and they are different... aegyptiacus seems to be more flared than mine... the borders are not so flattened... But.. there's not some bibliography anywhere about the Pliocene Clypeaster?

Sp. doesn't look well to me, hehehe ^_^

Best regards.

Hi Carlos,

Maybe you have a 'new' species on your hands, hahaha.

I am not a specialist on the Clypeaster but sometimes I wonder if there a to many different names for the same species, because of minor differences which could also be explained by age, environment, etc.
