I don't know what the species could be, but it looks like some kind of vertebrae possibly? Anyone else?

The right side appears to have a portion that is missing.

It's a fragment of fish bone (you can tell from the texture). From a big fish obviously....not sure beyond that.

What distinguishes a fishy texture in this case? Genuinely curious, as it looks similar to some fossil bits I ascribed to mosasaur. The cracked surface does seem different.

Flaky layers, which seem somewhat translucent.
