Dolphin Tooth?

Hi Everyone,

I was looking into the bag of teeth for December and bumped into this little fellow, I think is a dolphin however the root is pretty short, doesn't appear broken, but can't discount break and wear. Found at Flag Ponds Md. Thanks for you help . MK

Please take a picture next to a ruler or something to show scale. It really helps to aid with ID.

Digger only thing I found handy, aside my wife giving me a look when I asked for a ruler while in the middle of making dinner, was a penny. So here it is

That's a big one. Most of what I have found here in CA. are the size of a grain of rice. Cool find!

Yup, it's a small, single-cusped, single-rooted odontocete tooth. It's generally not possible to identify most isolated odontocete teeth past "Odontoceti".

Thanks Bo, Digger yes I do have a few grain size porpoise/dolphin teeth, but this was puzzling me because of root and size.
