Diceros Posted March 31, 2015 Share Posted March 31, 2015 It's thoracic because there are articulations for a rib. On the top photo (anterior view), look just above the centrum, and a little to the left and right (to the left and rt. of the hole for the spinal cord), you'll see a pair of small round (they point toward the outside), flat articular surfaces - those are for the rib head. Because the neural spine's so short (unless it's broken), I'd guess posterior thoracic (back of the rib cage on the mounted skeleton). The fused sacral vertebrae are just between the flared ilia of the hips. The lumbar vertebrae come between the sacral and thoracic. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
