TNGray Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) I should have taken a photo before I started on this one. All I could see was a few of the "ribs" sticking out of the matrix and it did not look promising. So I dug into it just to see if there was more. Hmm, more segments appear... Hmm well the tail spine is gone, but there is till hope. Alas, when I got to the glabella by fears were realized. Another smoosh headed Huntonia. On the positive side, its the second nicest Huntonia I have discovered in my Thiesen quarry haul and I have plenty of rocks left. And I am getting more practiced at prepping them. mmaley Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Wow! What a nice preparation and beautiful specimen. I only found Huntonia pygidiums when I hunted the Thiesen quarry. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the other samples you collected. One of these days, I hope to learn how to prepare specimens like you have done. Mike
Auspex Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Actually, that's a terrific fossil; well done! cynroux Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I'd be thrilled to find something like that. Isn't that always the way though? The next, better fossil. The bigger, better tooth? PA Fossil Finder Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Never set the bar so high that you can't enjoy nice finds like these Living in an area where nearly all fossils are empty molds, I would love to find something like that. You have it pretty good where you're hunting! Stephen
