Recommended Posts

1. Appears to be a horn coral(?)

2. Partial trilobite cephalon with eye(nice preservation)

3. Crinoid stem fragment(?)

4.Unable to tell(possible gastropod?)

Let's see what others have to say. Nice finds over all!

Best regards,

Paul

Hello PAJim,

Welcome to the Fossil Forum. To give a little help in the ID of these. First picture has a Rugose (Solitary) Coral. Second picture is a partial Cephalon (Head) of a Phacopid Trilobite.

Third is a column segment (Stem piece) of a Crinoid. Last appears to be a partial of a high spire Gastropod (Sea Snail). Likely these are Silurian to Devonian age Marine fossils.

Happy Hunting! -John

Thanks! I'll have to dig into that reading there. I had no idea I found a trilobite eye, very interesting. I wish the rest of it was there. I told my son our goal was to find a trilobite and thought we came home empty, at least we found part of one!

Nice finds :)!

I agree totaly with youFossil Crazy, except in the last...It seems an orthocone.Note the centre of fossil:the hole seems a siphuncle , that was/is a part of the cephalopods. It distributes the gases for the diferent isolated cameras/segments and pump the water to help animal deslocation. However I'm not sure.

Regards
