New Members Fossilboy5 Posted July 21, 2015 New Members Share Posted July 21, 2015 My son pulled this fossil from his sandpit... Great find for a 5 year old. Sand originated from the Cypress Hills, SK. Fossil probably of Eocene to Miocene Epoch... Anybody able to identify this?? I would love to know what it is... http://uregina.ca/~sauchyn/geog497&897/hills.html has a little bit more info on the geographical area the find was from... Thanks for your help!! jpc
It is a lower jaw... my semi educated guess knowing the span of possible ages in the Cypress HIlls is some sort of Oligocene or Miocene ungulate... last premolar and first molar.

Auspex
Welcome to the Forum I wish I'd had a 'sand box' like that when I was 5... If you can post an image of the chewing surface ("occlusal") straight on, it may be possible to refine the ID. sseth
Welcome to the forum. Interesting wear pattern on those teeth. I agree with Auspex, a few more pics of the chewing surface might help. _____________________________________ Seth www.fossilshack.com www.americanfossil.com www.fishdig.com

JohnJ
Hi Kerri, I've merged your two topics and moved it to the Fossil ID forum. Keeping all the posts together about the same fossil helps organize thoughts regarding the identification. If you would like, please start a new topic to introduce yourself in Member Introductions.
