Unknown Brachiopod

This is a brachiopod, right? I am trying to work it out of the matrix, but have already broken it a little in my attempts.

Yes, a Mucrospirifer, from what I can see. Probably Devonian?

I wouldn't call it a Mucrospirifer - but some sort of spiriferid certainly.

More would have to be uncovered, to make a certain ID.

The brachiopod looks like a Mississippian spiriferid, Anthracospirifer is one possibility. Hopefully some one who collects Mississippian fossils may be able to identify the brachiopod.
