Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated. I do not think it is a rock in the matrix. Seems more like a shell. It sits with several layers of sandstone.

I will post better shots of the lead edge. It does not show well in the photos. Photos make it look like a rock. In person it looks like a shell. Maybe if I turn of the flash that will help too. Thanks!

There are many species of clams with that overall shape and clams get rather large so that's not an issue. A couple clear photos and some locality info would be helpful.

looks like a concretion "center" with most of the outside shell eroded away.
