believerjoe
I decided to stop at the Ladonia Fossil Park as I have not been there is a while. Very heavily looked over, but usually find it a challenge to see what others have missed. Picked up two badly damaged jaw sections with single tooth roots in them, but not worth pics. Then mostly buried, I investigated an item and dug up these bad boys. Wasn't sure if this was shark or some fish, but they are joined with what looks like bone, but 2 vertebrae. 2 inches in diameter. They are also very well mineralized and fairly heavy. What fishy might this be? All of the other verts that I would flag as shark are much cleaner, but I am not very smart on fish ID. Thanks! believerjoe
I was proud of these. Cleaning them now to see the final product, but fish verts are rare for us for some reason, but I do like adding things to the collection like this... Thanks for the ID's fellas. I wasn't sure if that was enough for a shark diagnosis.
LordTrilobite
I agree, looks sharkish. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Ptychodus04
The rough parts also look like it could be preserved soft tissue. This is uncommon but not unheard of for shark verts.
