I know you recommended filling in the holes with filer and sculpting it but I think it really like it with the natural defects. My wife likes it that way too and may have convinced me not to fill in the holes. This is after a couple hours or so of scribe work and dremel work. A touch of 5% vinac solution to finish it off.
