Northeastern Ohio 4/24 Help with ID please

After months away from the site and foot surgery behind me, my daughter went with me for my first trip to the site. She found this and I am not sure what it is. Hope the photo is good enough.

Your item looks fishy to me - either a scale or a skull element.

Can't wait to see what you find next.

Tim, I cannot tell you how happy I am to be back! Fish scale is what I was thinking, but just did not have quite the same shape as my previous ones.

It actually has more of an operculum shape, I think. (Gill cover) .

Although, it could be a broken scale, as well.

Found an image of some Coelocanth gill covers for comparison. The illustration is of Devonian ones, but might give a general idea.
