Hey Hi Y'All,

I spent the last 2 days digging quartz crystals. I thought I would share it.

A picture of some crystals in situ.

Here is a picture of the excavation and the parking area. (It is nice to have no hike to get to the dig site.)

All in all it was a fun 2 days of digging a bunch of "smoky" quartz crystals.

Very nice! Like raisins in the dough. Sure looks like a different kind of job than opening up a cleft in the alps. Is that a claim dig?

Thank You! No, they come out pre "polished". To do any abrating would destroy the crystal and reduce the value.

I will post some pictures of the cleaned crystals when I get the chance.

Thank You! The surrounding bed rock is somewhat decomposed which makes it a lot easier to dig, but it is an alpine quartz facies. Yes, We were digging on My claim.

Nice finds Tony, those are some monsters : )

Thank You!

Would it be a long drive from Massachusetts? Wow. That site is terrific. That first crystal you posted is amazing, and they're all wonderful. Glad you had a good couple of days.

Thank You! Yeah, it is a long drive from there-- but not quite coast to coast. I am 200 miles from the pacific coast.

Thank You! You should have some good areas to search for crystals in Colorado, give it a try.

Those are some wicked spires Tony. These are form the Sierras? I have some friends that went to Arkansas for a crystal dig tour and didn't find anything even close to as nice as those you found. Cool stuff!

Thank You! Yes they came from the 5000 foot elevation of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

When I was in Arkansas I went for the diamonds. Did not find any but had fun looking.
