Sylvestersen
Totally deserved, kudo's for that find. It's amazing Does anyone else think this not an adult fish,BTW?Large orbits and all that? It'small but it's a adult. The average length of this type of fish is about 8 cm when we find them. The really "big ones" can be op to 10 cm. Sylvestersen
Nice to see something form the famous Fur lagerstatt Happy for your interest I have previously made two galleries with fossils from the Fur Formation. Only a few of them are own findings. Insects: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/gallery/album/2275-insects-from-the-fur-formation/ Fish: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/gallery/album/1593-fish-fossils-from-the-fur-formation/ The Fur Formation (Denmark) Ypresian (Lower Eocene Epoch, c. 56.0-54.5 Ma). It is a diatomitic sediment approximately 60 meters thick comprises 2/3 opal tests of diatoms and 1/3 clay, interbedded with layers of volcanic ash and a few limestone horizons (cementstones). It is known for its abundant fossil fish, insects, reptiles, birds and plants. There have been found 180-200 different species of insects and 50-70 different species of Osteichthyes (bony fish) and 10-15 species of Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous fish) in the Fur Formation.
