my favourite fossil. coal mine find

This was given to me about 30 years ago by my father who worked down a coal mine in Northumberland U.K. This is just a small fragment of a huge fossil that got destroyed while blasting the face , the fossil was blown into hundreds of pieces. All the men on that shift got a piece to take home , its such a shame it got destroyed.

Interesting piece, do You know what it is?

It was taken to our local museum some years ago and from what I remember they said it was scales but I cant remember what they said it was from. I think ill take it back in for another I.D.

Nice piece, I think it may be Megalichthys. Here's a similar piece I found in coal mine spoil in Co. Durham.
