Rareshine5
Hi I found these on our farm in Central Missouri [Osage County].. I've looked in Missouri fossil references and on line - bt haven't found something similar... Can anyone tell me what they are?. Thank you for looking! Fossildude19
Hello, These actually look like mudcracks, or dessication cracks, to me. abyssunder
Neither coral, nor sponge, I'm afraid. Tim is right on these ones. An interesting similarity of the patterns I've discovered (circled with red) could be seen in these pictures (tentatively I would call it "Glyptodon scute pattern", although it has nothing to do with that): Ancient mudcracks in plan view, Monroe County, IN. Rareshine5
Thank you, I thought they looked like mud cracks as well, but seemed much smaller than what I am used to seeing.. I was unable to find "fossilized dirt cracks" so I thought perhaps it was a coral or sponge.. I appreciate your help (and the Monroe County IN aerial photo).
