Any ideas on this piece? Almost looks like skin of some sort. Found in Ramanessin this past weekend. Thank you

it looks like a fragment of mammal tooth enamel. Something similar to cow tooth.

Not sure if this also works for enamel, but I do know it works for bones. 

Try burning it. If it smells, then it's modern. if it doesn't, then it's probably fossil.

 

When burning modern bone, you also burn the collagen on it, a substance that has a strong smell when you burn it.
