Fossil in the stairs of a museum

I was visiting the Diocesan Museum in Palma (Mallorca) and before walking up the stairs I noticed something that I thought was a fossil. What kind of gastropod could it be? And what could be the rock the steps (stairs) are made of?

I am sorry, but I only have this ugly photo.

Might Be a gastropod, could be a stain.
