KimTexan
Here are a couple I found yesterday. This is a Mariella. It still needs some cleaning. There were oysters in the grooves of the spirals. I’m still working on removing them and attached matrix. This may be a Graysonites? It was broken sitting in the marl I pulled it from. I think it is one of the coolest I’ve found. Look at the tubercals on it! So cool.

The type of engraver I meant was one like this which had a sort of pneumatic action. need regular breaks tho otherwise you’re get ‘white finger’. Besides it’s best to let it cool down and of course you’ll deserve a cup of tea while you admire your progress. next step up is a pen and compressor! I still use both a Dremel and the above as well as my pen. 2 John Map of UK fossil sites

I do prefer ammonites that are in a there matrix. Thanks for showing me @Nimravis cheers Bobby I agree, I prefer to leave as much matrix as I can on a fossil (within reason) - it gives some idea of the environment it was preserved in.

Is there something you’re particularly interested in? J Hi John that is interesting . I have no ammonites in mind but most years I get an ammonite off my wife for Christmas . I have spent a little to much on fossils this month but if I get any Crimbo money I will drop you a line. So are you thinking of specialising in your collecting, if you don’t mind me asking. I can’t make my mind up where fossil collecting is concerned. Cheers Bobby
Tidgy's Dad
I might be able to sort you out with an ammo or two from Morocco. But you'll also have to wait til New Year. I've also overspent somewhat this month. 2 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
