New Members jimmyblanco1976 Posted February 13, 2018 New Members Share Posted February 13, 2018 Dear Fossil Forum I'm just getting started and trying to get up to speed with my own specimens. I have two poor quality pictures of insects, looking for some help with identification. One is a bi map file of a white spider and one is of a small fly. These specimens are in Baltic amber from Latvia. Please help, any comments would be appreciated! Jimmy
Fossildude19
Hello, and Welcome to the Forum, Jimmy. I contrasted your photos, and made the spider one a .jpg file. That way, people don't have to download it to view it. Welcome again. jhw
With Baltic amber I've usually seen your "fly" labeled as a fungus gnat. google for comparisons. No clue on the spider.
MeargleSchmeargl
Not the bug Guy, but those are some nice looking bugs! Also, welcome to your addiction. Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
New Members jimmyblanco1976 Posted February 14, 2018 Author New Members Share Posted February 14, 2018 Thanks JHW and MeargleSchmeargl for your responses. Fungus Gnat makes sense, thanks. You are right it is my addiction, just crossing the threshold into it. It is amazing to hold something that old in your hands and picture what was happening in time when it was formed.
