Cloud the Dinosaur King
A fish fossil from Beckham's Barn. Any idea of what species of fish this could be?

Max-fossils
@Fossildude19 got it all right! Here are some very similar examples from my collection (the second one is cool because it is dorsally preserved, so you get to see the top of it, and not the side of it like most other specimens): Very likely from Ceara in Brazil. 5 Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil. oldtimer
Nice fish both of you. I like the dorsal one Max. They seen harder to come by.

They are indeed. I got quite lucky, because a few years ago my sister was kind enough to think of me when she saw an old lady at a market selling antiquities, with this little fossil among the rest. My sister asked what it was (having recognized it was probably a fossil), and the lady answered with "is fish from Brazil". Because the price was very low (5 euros or so), my sister very nicely bought it for me. It stayed in my collection during a few years, and one day I took a picture of it and put it here on TFF, where our members immediately recognized what it was! This was the first dorsally preserved fish I ever saw, and I have only seen a handful others afterwards. So yeah, I have the feeling that dorsally preserved fishes are much rarer. Probably because of how the dead fish sank to the seafloor, or because of how the rock splits, it is usually the side of the fish that becomes uncovered.
