Those Schizorhiza are interesting - a truly rare genus in North America (better known from Morocco and Niger). I'm not sure the AR occurrence has been formally documented.

They are These are the rostral denticles

of the sclerorhynchid sawtooth fish, Schizorhiza.

That is from the ID I got after I found them. They

are from the Ouachita River in Arkansas. I found a

total of 11 at total at different times. They rest did

not have the roots like these (they were broken) .

These are my best.

There was a paper that came out about that river

and those teeth were mentioned

(here from the notes not the paper.)

[schizorhiza stromeri Weiler, 1930 – rare (5) partial rost. dents. reported as S. cf. S. stromeri by Becker et al. None in Farmer coll., but 11 in Morgan coll. ]

That notes were done by Earl Manning just for this other AR collector

but he stuck my finds in his notes also.

It will not be published. He just enjoys doing it.

The pdf of finds in that river is very interesting. The article was written maybe 5 or 6 years ago (newer report)

It was written by Becker I believe. He has been there several times since but do not

know what he has found.
